J Mint (Jackson Karlenzig) was born in San Francisco, CA in 1995 and raised in Marin county for the majority of his childhood. A 4th generation Bay Area native who’s mother hails from SF and father from Chicago, Mint grew up around music. His father played guitar and friends parents were in notable touring bands like the Jerry Garcia band. However, Mint didn’t grow up playing Rock n Roll and instead found an affinity for hip hop. At the end of his high school days he became known amongst his friends for his freestyle skills and would rap in social settings. It was here that he sharpened up his rap skills and delved into a wide variety of artists from golden era artists like NAS, Jay Z, Mobb Deep, Biggie, Pac, and the new up n comers of the time like A$AP Mob, TDE, and Taylor Gang.

MINT stays true to the roots of hip hop, while still experimenting with his own sound and style. He is best known for his conscious lyrics, impactful hooks, and catchy melodies. MINT stands for Music Inspires Natural Thought and that is J Mint’s goal with his music, to hopefully inspire others to think and be themselves.
